Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports use AIR suspension, supercharged V8 / V6, complex AWD with two-speed transfer case, and infotainment electronics that fail in distinctive patterns. Most chain shops won’t touch them. Here’s where it usually goes wrong.

Naturally-aspirated and supercharged 5.0L AJ-V8 (used in Range Rover, RR Sport, Discovery 5) have known timing-chain wear. We do the service with the same OEM parts and same factory procedure — quoted itemized after inspection at our independent labor rate.

3.0L V6 SC supercharger needs nose-cone fluid service every 50,000 miles — an interval the dealer often skips. Skip it and the supercharger nose bearings fail — a much bigger repair than the preventive service.

Land Rover BCM (Body Control Module) and gateway-module issues are common after age 5+. SDD diagnoses + reflash usually fixes the issue without replacement. Module-by-module isolation when needed.
Our approach
Land Rover service is dangerous to do by guessing. AIR suspension components fail individually but symptoms overlap (a leaking strut and a failing compressor look identical from the driver’s seat). Supercharger nose-cone fluid is on a 50k interval the dealer rarely flags. Timing-chain service on AJ-V8 has a known service window if you catch it.
We use Land Rover SDD (the same factory platform Land Rover dealers use), STJLR.51.5122 / STJLR.03.5005 spec oil, OEM Mahle / Mann filters, and the factory adaptation reset on every visit. AIR suspension service uses Land Rover-specific procedures — not generic strut replacement.

Yes. The 5.0L AJ-V8 (used in Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery 5, plus Jaguar XF / XJ / XK / F-Type V8 variants) has a known timing-chain stretch issue typically appearing between 90,000–130,000 miles. Symptoms: rattle on cold start, P0011 / P0014 / P0016 cam-correlation codes.
Catch it early ($4,000–$5,500 chain + guides + tensioners + VVT actuators) and the engine lasts another 100k+ miles. Wait for catastrophic failure and you’re into engine-replacement territory ($12,000–$18,000).
The 3.0L V6 supercharged engine (Range Rover, Sport, Discovery, plus Jaguar F-Pace, XF, XE) has an Eaton TVS supercharger driven by a belt with internal nose-cone bearings lubricated by their own dedicated fluid — separate from engine oil.
Land Rover spec is to replace this fluid every 50,000 miles. The dealer often skips it. Skip it long enough and the bearings fail, requiring full supercharger rebuild or replacement (~$3,500). The service itself is $400–$600 — cheap insurance.
No. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits Land Rover from voiding your factory warranty because you used an independent specialist. As long as we use STJLR-spec oil, OEM (or OEM-equivalent) filters, and document the service properly, your factory coverage stays intact.

Yes — the new L663 Defender (2020+) is mechanically closer to a Range Rover than the legendary 1948-2016 original. Standard service intervals (oil, brake fluid, microfilter), AIR suspension on most trims, ZF 8HP transmission, plus the V8 carbide variant.
If you have a classic original Defender (pre-2016 or older Series), we’ll handle basic service but refer specialty restoration work to a Defender specialist who has the parts network for hard-to-source originals.
Limited — we focus on factory-spec service rather than off-road modifications. We can perform pre-trip inspections, fluid services, AIR suspension calibration, and underbody-protection-state checks. We can also coordinate with off-road specialists for skid plates, lift kits, and overland gear.
For South Florida driving (which is mostly highway + beach), most Land Rover owners don’t need off-road mods. The factory configuration is impressively capable.
