If any of this sounds familiar

Volkswagen platforms are great cars — when serviced by people who know them.

TSI engines need carbon cleaning. DSG transmissions need fluid + filter on factory interval. Early 2.0T platforms have known timing-chain tensioner wear. Water pumps are common at 60k+ miles. None of these get caught by a generic-OBD code reader. Here’s where it usually goes wrong.

“The Tiguan is misfiring on cold start.”

TSI carbon buildup

EA888 2.0T direct-injection engines accumulate intake-valve carbon at 60k–100k miles. Walnut-blast cleaning — quoted itemized after inspection at our independent labor rate — restores idle quality and fuel economy.

“The DSG shudders when I take off.”

DSG mechatronic wear

DSG dual-clutch service is on a 40k-mile interval — not "lifetime fluid." Skip it and the mechatronic temperature sensor fails (a much bigger rebuild than the fluid + filter service), then clutch packs glaze.

“The car overheats in stop-and-go traffic.”

EA888 water pump failure

2.0T water pump (electric-driven thermostat module) commonly fails at 60k–100k miles. South Florida heat accelerates failure — we recommend proactive replacement at 80k miles. Quoted itemized after inspection.

“Nobody wants to touch my Golf R.”

R / GTI performance specialty

GTI, R, Arteon performance variants use the same EA888 platform as standard VWs — just tuned higher. Same ODIS, same 504/507 oil. We service them at standard European labor rate.

Our approach

VW ODIS scan. 504/507 oil. OEM filter. DSG service on factory interval.

Volkswagen and Audi share the VW Group platforms — the same engines (EA888 1.8T / 2.0T, EA839 V6, etc.), same DSG and DCT transmissions, same ODIS scan tool, same 504/507 oil specs. The only difference is brand finish and (occasionally) trim level.

We use VW ODIS (the same factory diagnostic platform VW dealers use), Castrol EDGE Professional / Liqui Moly Top Tec / Mobil 1 ESP-X / equivalent VW-spec oil, OEM Mahle / Mann filters, and the factory adaptation reset on every visit. DSG fluid + filter service is on a 40k-mile interval, not "lifetime" — we do it as standard maintenance.

  • VW ODIS factory diagnostic platform — same as the dealer, on every visit
  • VW 502 / 504 / 507 / 508 spec oil only — matched to your specific platform
  • OEM filters (Mahle, Mann) — listed by part number on every quote
  • DSG / DCT fluid + filter service per VW Group 40k-mile interval, with adaptation reset
  • Every line of work covered by our 48-month / 48,000-mile parts and labor warranty

What it costs

Volkswagen service ranges, published up front.

VW service varies by platform — service on a Jetta and the same job on a Golf R are not in the same dollar zip code. We quote the real number for your specific car after the inspection — not before.

Our European labor rate is $269/hr; oil change starts at $169.95; alignment from $189.95. Inspection and ODIS scan are free on every job. DSG fluid service, TSI carbon cleaning, EA888 timing chain tensioner, water pump, brake service — all quoted itemized after the free inspection. R / Arteon performance and 4MOTION-equipped variants price higher because the parts and procedures are different, not because we charge a premium.

Free inspection + free ODIS scan, then itemized quote. No work happens without your line-by-line approval.

Inspection & ODIS scan

Free then a real itemized quote

European labor billed at $269/hr — significantly less than dealer rates for the same ODIS procedures and VW-spec oil. Same factory adaptation reset, same OEM filter sources.

Frequently asked

Volkswagen questions, answered straight.

The seven questions we’re most often asked about VW service — with the real answers.

How often does TSI carbon cleaning need to be done?

TSI direct-injection engines (EA888 1.8T / 2.0T, plus 3.6L VR6 in Atlas) are prone to intake-valve carbon buildup because direct injection means no fuel ever washes the back of the intake valves. Symptoms: rough idle, hesitation, P0300 random misfire codes, reduced fuel economy.

Recommended service interval: every 60,000–100,000 miles depending on driving pattern (highway driving stretches it; city driving shortens it). We do walnut-blast cleaning — intake manifold off, valves cleaned, gaskets replaced. $900–$1,200 typical.

Should I really service my DSG transmission?

Yes — absolutely. VW Group spec is 40,000 miles for DSG fluid + Mechatronic filter. The dealer often calls this "sealed for life" — that’s a marketing decision, not engineering. Skip the service and the Mechatronic temperature sensor fails at 80k–120k miles ($1,500–$2,500 rebuild).

South Florida heat is rough on DSG fluid; we recommend the shorter side of the interval (every 30k–40k miles) for cars driven primarily here. Service runs $700–$1,000 with proper VW G 052 / G 055 fluid, OEM filter, and ODIS adaptation reset.

Will independent service void my Volkswagen warranty?

No. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits VW from voiding your factory warranty because you used an independent specialist. As long as we use VW-spec (502 / 504 / 507 / 508) oil, OEM filters, and document the service properly, your VW Carefree Maintenance / Carefree Coverage stays intact.

We keep a full digital record on every service — oil spec, filter part number, technician sign-off — so warranty claims and resale-time questions are straightforward.

What about the ID.4 electric service?

Yes — we service the ID.4 lineup (Standard, Pro, Pro S, AWD GTX). EV service is different from ICE work: tire rotation, brake service (regen reduces wear but rotors still corrode in coastal humidity), cabin filter, coolant for the battery thermal-management system, 12V auxiliary battery, software updates via ODIS.

We have the high-voltage safety equipment + training to work safely on ID.4. Battery diagnostics and high-voltage service are within scope; major battery replacement is referred to a VW-EV certified specialist.

Do you do R / GTI performance work?

Yes — Golf GTI, Golf R, plus older R32 and Arteon performance variants. Same EA888 platform as standard VWs, just tuned higher. Same ODIS, same 504/507 oil. We do standard intervals, DSG service, brake-pad / brake-fluid service, and aftermarket-tune-aware diagnosis (we won’t install a tune but we’ll service a tuned car).

Same labor rate as standard VW work ($269/hr European). Brake-fluid flush + RBF600 high-temp fluid for track-day use is a common request — we do it as part of standard prep.

My Tiguan is overheating in traffic — what should I check?

Most likely the EA888 water pump. The integrated electric-driven water pump + thermostat module is a known failure point at 60k–100k miles. Symptoms: temp gauge climbing in stop-and-go (most pronounced in South Florida heat), occasional coolant warning, sweet smell of coolant in engine bay.

Replacement is $600–$900 with OEM unit. We recommend proactive replacement at 80k miles before failure — cheaper than tow + repair when it lets go on I-95.

Can you handle TDI diesel service (AdBlue, DPF)?

Yes — TDI service includes AdBlue (DEF) refill, DPF regeneration via ODIS forced-regen, EGR cooler service, and the diesel-specific oil change spec (VW 504.00 / 507.00 designed for low-SAPS diesel applications).

If your TDI is a 2009–2015 EA189 (the dieselgate generation), we can also handle post-fix software work, post-fix fuel-system service, and out-of-warranty repair coordination. Most platforms with TDI support: Jetta TDI, Passat TDI, Golf TDI SportWagen, Touareg TDI.
